The Mohammed Ali mosque in Cairo, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, was another fantastic site to visit. It was the first time I had ever been inside a mosque and was humbled by the experience and reception we got there. Mohammed Ali was the appointed leader of Egypt after Napolean departed in 1805 and is regarded as the founder of Modern Egypt. He commissioned the building of this mosque and it was designed by the Greek Yussuf Bushna. It provides superb views over the city of Cairo one of which is shown in the following photo.
