| These Malagasy children, upon seeing my camera, immediately posed for
me. Since I had a digital camera, I decided to immediately play back the photo to them on
the camera's LCD screen. There were whoops of delight! One of the children then gave their
name and address - our guide books had told us that this is a common occurrance in
Madagascar - the idea is that you send them on a copy of the photograph when you get home,
as payment for the photograph. I was very happy to oblige, and I sent them 3 photos as
thanks.
