bent giraffe

This young giraffe is grazing at ground level because of localised destruction of trees by elephants. His long neck is more of a hindrance at such times. The name giraffe apparently comes from the Arabic 'xirapha', which means 'one who walks swiftly'. Totally appropriate for such a graceful animal.
