Total Solar Eclipse, 2003 Nov 23
Pictures from the South Pole
The eclipse of 2003 Nov 23 was a total eclipse over parts of
Antarctica. At the South Pole, it was a partial eclipse - the eclipse
started
at 22:23 GMT, was maximum at 23:18 (with 86% of the sun's disk covered
by the moon) and ended at 00:12. These pictures,
which do not show the sun, were taken from a webcam which lies
within a kilometer of the South Pole. You can see that the light was
distinctly darker at mid-eclipse than it was before and after it.
